Cook and Chhin-Kreiner take Rounds of the Day in Callaway Junior Tour at Bridgeport Country Club

A field of 86 golfers, aged 10 to 18, participated in the Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), Monday at Bridgeport Country Club.

Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, playing in the girls 15-18 division, won her third Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls in six days. Solas Chhin-Kreiner of Morgantown, playing in the boys 15-16 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys.

“It is a great opportunity for youth in the area to showcase their hard work and talents,” said Bridgeport’s Assistant Golf Professional Anthony Burnside.  “It is an honor and privilege for Bridgeport Country Club to host WVGA and the Callaway Junior Tour.”

“We battled an hour rain delay followed by high temperatures today, but the players fought through it.  The course was excellent condition, as it always is,” said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware.

Division winners were:

  • Boys 12 & under: Titus Smith of Middlebourne, (+18) 90;
  • Boys 13-14: Drew Marling of Glen Dale won a two-way playoff, (+8) 80;
  • Boys 15-16: Solas Chhin-Kreiner of Morgantown, (+4) 76;
  • Boys 17-18: Caleb Young of Fairmont after a three-way playoff, (+7) 79;
  • Girls 10-14: Valentina Aguilar of Elkins, (+40) 111.; and
  • Girls 15-18: Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, (+2) 74.
