The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, saw Christian Brand of Scott Depot take the Championship flight Thursday at Edgewood Country Club with a six under par 65. The event was rescheduled from April 16 due to damage from earlier storms.
Mark Strickland of Boomer took the Men’s Gross Division with a one over par 72, while Roger Hager of Charleston took the Men’s Net Division with a three under par 68. Susan Glasby of Chesapeake, Ohio took the Women’s Gross Division with a six over par 77, while Karen Rainey of Daniels took the Women’s Net Division with a six over par 77.
Edgewood’s Assistant Golf Professional David Stragg said, “It was great to host the first WVGA AM Series event! We had strong field today and it was the biggest field size for the Series.”
“We want to congratulate Edgewood’s Head Golf Professional Craig Berner and his staff for the quick work they’ve done getting the course back in such good shape after the high winds and flooding rains of recent weeks,” said WVGA’s Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We were thrilled to have 73 players on the course today. That says so much about this course and our Amateur Series.”
The West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, is open to anyone, male or female, of any skill level. Awards are given in several flights based on net and gross scores.
