Callaway Junior Tour par 3 shootout at Pipestem sees 19 teams

The Callaway Junior Tour Par 3 Shootout, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), saw 19 two-person teams enjoy a nine-hole scramble format for golfers aged 10 to 18 Wednesday evening at Pipestem Resort State Park.

The team of Parker and Carson O’Dell of Hurricane took home top honors with a four under par 23.  The O’Dell’s were aided by scoring four birdies.

The O’Dell’s were followed by the team of Xavier Honaker and William Dick of Sandstone in second at two under par 25, scoring two birdies.

Tied for third at one under par 26 were the teams of Carson Blankenship and Joshua Freeman of Ironton, Ohio, Dylan Canterbury and Max Bowen of Bluefield, and Sam Roshau of Crawley and Seth Napier of White Sulphur Springs, who also scored two birdies.

“We were very much looking forward to having these junior golfers back for this event,” said Steve Robertson, Pipestem Resort’s head golf professional.  “It brings its own brand of drama to youth golf.”

“We were excited to restore the Shootout this year.” Said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware.  “I played in this event with my cousin 15 years ago and his son played today, which made it very special for me.”
