The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), opened its southern two-day, 36-hole combined event Monday on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels. The Par 3 Shootout will take place this evening on Pipestem Resort’s Short Course, followed by a full day of golf tomorrow at Pipestem. Today’s event features a total field of 94 golfers aged 5 to 18.
Jude Walker of Elizabeth, playing in the boys 13-14 division, won the playoff to earn the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys, finishing at two over par (+2) 74. Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., playing in the girls 15-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls at 10 over par (+10) 82.
Division winners were:
- Boys 12 & under: Graydi Flohr of Daniels, (+9) 81;
- Boys 13-14: Jude Walker of Elizabeth, (+2) 74;
- Boys 15-16: Parker O’Dell of Hurricane, (+2) 74;
- Boys 17-18: Cooper Ward of Beaver, (+2) 74;
- Girls 10-14: Kate Dotson of Elizabeth, (+42) 114; and
- Girls 15-18: Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa., (+10) 82.
“We love it when the youth are playing here,” said the resort’s Head Golf Professional Jason Dalton.: We’re all about growing the game in any way we can.”
“These two-day events benefit some of our golfers in their national rankings, and we get to have fun doing them,” said WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware. “We thank Jason Dalton and his staff at The Resort at Glade Springs for showing us a really great day!”
