Callaway Junior Rookie League returns to Tygart Lake Golf Course

The Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), played Sunday at Tygart Lake Golf Course in Grafton.

The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience.  Division winners were:

  • AAA (nine holes): Christian O’Dell of Morgantown;
  • AA (nine holes): Mason Karp of Weston; and
  • A (six holes): Corban Phillips of Morgantown.

Other highlights Sunday included two birdies and an eagle for Christian O’Dell of Morgantown, one birdie and an albatross (one better than an eagle) for Trace Tucker of Fairmont and a birdie for Connor Atkins of Fairmont.

“I played on the Callaway Junior Tour, so to host a Rookie event at my course with my son participating is an awesome thing,” said Tygart Lake’s owner and General Manager Todd Williams.  “We will welcome them back anytime in the future!”

“This is my hometown course, so I’m thrilled to bring the Rookie Tour here,” said WVGA Tournament Manager – Youth Operations Lucas Ware. “I used to work here and my brother works here now.”

The event, a partner of Callaway Golf and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association, featured a field of 32 golfers aged 5 to 18 from across West Virginia.
