Two teams qualified for the US Four-Ball qualifying from Wednesday’s event at The Pines Country Club in Morgantown, W. Va. A total of 38 two-person teams of golfers competed for two team spots to advance in US Four-Ball Championship qualifying, as well as two alternate team positions.
Top honors, at seven under par 64, went to the team of Nicklaus Harrington of Chaplin, Ct. and Luke Schaap of Bethesda, Md. and the team of Grant Lester of Washington, DC and Benjamin Siriboury of Clarksville, Md.
The alternates, tied at six under par 65, are the team of Ryan and Justin Feldman of Rockville, Md. and the team of David Long of Baltimore, Md. and Jay Mulieri of Boyds, Md.
The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), in support and collaboration with the United States Golf Association (USGA), conducted the US Mid-Amateur qualifier.
Several West Virginia teams finished just out of contention. The team of Jess Ferrell of Fairmont and Philip Reale of Hurricane, the team of Sam O’Dell of Hurricane and Christian Brand of Scott Depot and the team of Jared Taylor of Bluefield, W. Va. and Anthony Baker of Walkertown, NC are three of the five teams that tied for fifth with a five under par 66.
“We’re always excited about partnering with the WVGA and the USGA,” said The Pines’ Head Golf Professional Russell Reid. “This is a great course for everyone.”
“We are honored to host one of the US Four-Ball qualifiers across the country,” said WVGA Interim Executive Director Chris Slack. “I’m always amazed to see where our participants call home. We’re glad for the chance to let them experience at least a part of West Virginia.”
