Christiansen takes second WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Preston Country Club

Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg shot his second Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Preston Country Club in Kingwood with a two under par 70.  His first win was in June at Pipestem Resort and State Park.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  Thanks go to Chuck Workman of Appalachian Sport and Donnie Smith of Emergency Physicians Resource Organization for sponsoring our Diamond Division.  Overall, 75 players enjoyed the WVGA’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Christiansen winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross: Chuck Workman of Marlinton;
  • Senior Net: David Briggs of Carmichaels, Pa.;
  • Silver Gross: Dean Daniels of McHenry, Md.;
  • Silver Net: Robert Kisner of Fairmont;
  • Gold Net: Robert Copeland of Burton;
  • Diamond Grost: Vernon Simpson of Fairview; and
  • Diamond Net: Duane Lescalet of Wheeling.

Other highlights of the day include nine birdies and an eagle for Briggs, seven birdies for Workman, six birdies for Dan Wassick of Morgantown and five birdies for Mike Boggs of Hedgesville.

“The weather was great and today’s event went very smoothly,” said WVGA Tournament Manager Lucas Ware.  “Some good scores were posted in these ideal playing conditions.”
