The second of six state-wide qualifiers for the 90th West Virginia Open Championship beat the thunderstorm Sunday in Mason at Riverside Golf Club. Hoping to qualify for one of 19 spots in the Championship later this month, 55 golfers teed off this morning. The three-way playoff for the final qualifying spot beat the thunder and lightening in time to set the field.
“The course is ready and we’re honored to host this event,” said Riverside’s Bob Greene.
Earning Medalist Honors at even par 70 are:
- Jason King of New Haven;
- Alex Easthom of Ravenswood;
- Logan Lagodich of South Charleston;
- John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio;
- Ben Kunselman of Parkersburg; and
- Noah Mitchell of Charleston.
Other qualifiers were:
- Cole Kiley of Huntington;
- Sterling Shields of Mason;
- Jeremy Vallet of Logan;
- Mitchell Roush of Mason;
- Kaleb Smith of St. Albans;
- Brett Mayo of Milton;
- Josh Stephenson of Huntington;
- Chris Sauvageot of Tornado;
- Tyler Patterson of Charleston;
- Mark Warden of Vincent, Ohio;
- Jacob Workman of Chapmanville;
- Grant Roush of Mason; and
- Davis Haynes of Ripley.
Alternates are Sammy Shy of Huntington and Joshua Martin of Poca.
