Christiansen takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Pipestem Resort

Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg took the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Monday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Pipestem Resort with an even par 72.

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up.  Thanks go to Chuck Workman of Appalachian Sport and Donnie Smith of Emergency Physicians Resource Organization for sponsoring our Diamond Division.  Overall, 91 players enjoyed today’s WVGA’s Senior Series event.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

In addition to Christiansen winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Gross and Net: David Moore of Lewisburg;
  • Silver Gross: Scott Perry of Lowell, Ohio;
  • Silver Net: Darrell Duty of Beckley;
  • Gold Net: Harry Griffin of Kenna; and
  • Diamond Gross and Net: Bob White of Hurricane.

Other highlights of the day saw Maximillian Morris of Princeton score eight birdies, Brad Whitehead of Pembroke, Va., score seven birdies, while Carl Umpleby of Vienna scored five birdies and an eagle and Stephen Jackson of Pennsboro scored four birdies and an eagle.

“It’s always great to host the Senior Series,” said Pipestem’s Head Golf Professional Steve Robertson.  “It’s a great chance to see some old friends.”

“The players had a great day at Pipestem Resort,” said WVGA Interim Executive Director Chris Slack.
