Dennis Vass of Beckley took the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Tuesday’s Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Nicholas Memorial Golf Club in Summersville with a two over par 72.
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and up. Thanks go to Chuck Workman of Appalachian Sport and Donnie Smith of Emergency Physicians Resource Organization for sponsoring our Diamond Division. Overall, over 40 players enjoyed the WVGA’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“Nicholas Memorial is thrilled to be selected to host a WVGA Senior Series event. The staff has worked tirelessly to get the course in perfect condition,” said President Pat Hart. “This is our first, but hopefully not our last, WVGA event.”
In addition to Dennis Vass winning the Silver Gross and Net categories, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio;
- Senior Net: Tim Bucklew of Morgantown; and
- Gold Gross and Net: Bob White of Hurricane.
Other highlights of the day saw five birdies for Jeff Harvey of West Union and four birdies each for Bucklew, Ridenour and Patrick Sterrett of Daniels.
“Our first trip to Nicholas Memorial Golf Club was a great day for everyone,” said WVGA Interim Executive Director Chris Slack.
