Callaway Junior Tour saw over 90 players at Glade Springs Resort

The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), visited The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels Tuesday with a field of 92 golfers ages 10 to 18.

Jonah Willson of Daniels, playing in the boys 17-18 division, won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys after a two-hole playoff against Jude Walker of Mount Zion. Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana, playing in the girls 15-18 division won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls.

“This is in the top three of my favorite events,” said Glade Springs Resort’s Head Golf Professional Kyle Long.  “As a golf professional, I love to see the game grow through these young golfers and it’s great to see these kids and their parents sharing this sport.”

“We appreciate The Resort at Glade Springs for hosting us, including Head Golf Professional Kyle Long and his Pro Shop crew,” said Lucas Ware, WVGA’s Tournament Manager – Youth Golf. “Three playoffs made for an interesting finish to a great day of golf.”

Highlights of the day included four birdies each for Wilson and Cook, two birdies and an eagle for Tyler Beard of Lewisburg and three birdies for Emerson Simons of Spencer.

Division winners were:

  • Boys 12 & under: Jude Walker of Mount Zion;
  • Boys 13-14: Carson Higginbotham of Clarksburg;
  • Boys 15-16: Will Gruse of Charleston;
  • Boys 17-18: Jonah Willson of Daniels;
  • Girls 10-14: Isabelle Studli of Fairfield, Pa.; and
  • Girls 15-18: Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana.
