Stuart Bloch is a native of Wheeling, West Virginia, long-time industrial and amateur golf leader, past president of the United States Golf Association, West Virginia Golf Association and past chairman of the United States Golf Foundation.

A graduate of Princeton University, Bloch rose to the position of president of Bloch Brothers Tobacco Co. in 1970, and became vice president of the General Cigar & Tobacco Co. in 1975. Bloch currently serves as executive vice president and director of Hazlett, Burt & Watson, Inc., a position he has held since 1980. Bloch also served as First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1957-1959.

Bloch, a former member of the USGA Executive Committee, as well as president in 1992-1993, served on 15 committees during his stint with the USGA and is currently a consulting member of the Equipment Standards Committee.

As an accomplished player, Bloch served as captain of the Phillips Exeter Academy golf team, and spent two years as a member of the Princeton golf team. Bloch also was a Director and Chairman for 25 years of the Green Committee at his home club of Wheeling Country Club, member of the United States Seniors’ Golf Association and Virginia’s Senior Golf Association. Bloch currently holds memberships at The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Seminole Golf Club, past member of Pine Valley Golf Club, The Greenbrier Resort, and Wheeling Country Club.

Bloch is a former president of the Smokeless Tobacco Research Council and former president of the Associated Tobacco Manufacturers, West Virginia Manufacturers Association and Chairman of the West Virginia University Foundation. In 1973, he received the “Young Executive Achievement Award” from the National Association of Tobacco Distributors.
