Team West Virginia Wins Their First 17th Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys’ Invitational

The 17th annual Mid-Atlantic Junior Boys’ Invitational concluded today at Locust Hill Golf Course in Charles Town, and featured teams from West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia.

Team West Virginia defeated Virginia by two strokes and Maryland by 27 strokes, finishing at 31 over par (+31) 454 for the two-day tournament.

Each team has eight members, and the top six scores are used for each round of play, contributing to the overall score.  West Virginia team members included Tyler Beard of Lewisburg, Tommy Evans of Charles Town, Cameron Fallon of Parkersburg, Isaac Hayes of Hurricane, Isaac Hutchison of Lewisburg, Justus Mann of Chapmanville, Carson Sergent of Huntington, and Cooper Ward of Beaver.

Individually, Tommy Evans won the individual title, finishing at seven under par (-7) 137 over two days.  Other Team West Virginia members finishing in the top ten were Cooper Ward, finishing third at three over par (+3) 147, Cameron Fallon, tied for fifth at five over par (+5) 149 and Isaac Hayes of Hurricane, finishing eighth at six over par (+6) 150.  The remaining team members were Isaac Hutchison of Lewisburg finishing 19th, Justus Mann of Chapmanville finishing 20th, Tyler Beard of Lewisburg finishing 21st and Carson Sergent of Huntington finishing 22nd.

“I can’t say how proud we are of these eight young men, bringing home both the team and individual titles,” said WVGA Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware.  “We were pleased to bring these titles home at Locust Hill, a major supporter of junior golf in West Virginia.”

“We are delighted to see Team West Virginia take the Invitational title, and a local young man take individual honors,” said Locust Hill’s Owner and General Manager Wayne Clark.  “We’ve been preparing for awhile to have the course in top shape for this event, and our maintenance showed this weekend.”
