The West Virginia Mid-Amateur Championship, for golfers over 25, saw 58 golfers tee off on the first of three days of competition, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), at The Pines Country Club in Morgantown for the second consecutive year.
The stroke play round saw Christian Brand of Hurricane finish first at three under par (-3) 68, aided by four birdies and an eagle. The remainder of the top finishers were:
- (-1) 70: Noah Mullens of Milton and Ryan Mason of Morgantown;
- (E) 71: Jess Ferrell of Fairmont and Nick Dent of White Sulphur Springs;
- (+1) 72: Cory Hoshor of Eleanor and Tad Tomblin of Alum Creek; and
- (+2) 73: Chris Daniels of Beckley, Cam Roam of Huntington, Will Koras of Morgantown, Isaac Prine of Morgantown, Davey Jude of Kermit and Brian Anania of Scott Depot.
In the Round of 32:
