John Bumgarner of Scott Depot took his second Little General Stores Low Round of the Day of the season at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event Wednesday at Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado shooting a one over par (+1) 72, defeating John Duty on a scorecard playoff.
Overall, 86 players enjoyed the Big Bend course. The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.
“We’re happy to have the Senior Series back after a few years! The golfers were able to enjoy the fantastic weather and fantastic food from Chuck Hudson,” said Big Bend’s Assistant Manager Nate Doak.
“The Big Bend staff provided a great day of golf for our crowd, and the course was in wonderful condition,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
In addition to Bumgarner winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:
· Senior Net: Brent Terry of Kenova, (-3) 68;
· Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane, (+1) 72;
· Silver Net: Bill Kincaid of Charleston, (-8) 63;
· Gold Gross: Michael Wylie of White Sulphur Springs, (+5) 76;
· Gold Net: Kenneth Vannoy of Hurricane, (-3) 68; and
· Diamond Gross and Net: Darrell Loggins of Verdunville, (+10) 81.
