Locust Hill Golf Course Closes 2025 Callaway Junior Rookie League

The 2025 Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), played its final round of the season at Locust Hill Golf Course in Charles Town on Sunday afternoon.

The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience, with AAA and AA playing nine holes, and A playing six holes.  Sunday’s event featured a field of 20 golfers aged 5 to 18.  Division winners were:

  • AAA: Brody Cochran of Inwood, (+8) 44;
  • AA: Mason Burkhart of Martinsburg, (+5) 41; and
  • A: Amos Duelley of Hedgesville, on a scorecard playoff, (+8) 32.

“This is such a blast for us!  Our First Tee kids get to come out and play, and parents get to see their kids actually on the course,” said Locust Hill’s Owner and General Manager Wayne Clark.  “The course is in good shape, rain issues have been dealt with and I think the kids had a good field of play.”

“The West Virginia Golf Association has enjoyed seeing these young golfers for our nine-event season.  It’s the first time some of them have played competitive golf,” said WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf & Core Services Lucas Ware.  “We want to thank Wayne Clark and his staff for closing out the season with great course conditions and wonderful hospitality.”
