The Callaway Junior Tour, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), battled heat and avoided rain at The Pines Country Club in Morgantown on Wednesday.
Today’s event featured a total field of 95 golfers aged 9 to 18. William Biddington of Morgantown, playing in the boys 15-16 division, and Bryson Moorehead of Ridgeley, playing in the boys 17-18 division, tied for the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for boys, finishing at four over par (+4) 75. Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport and Lexi Green of Charleston, playing in the girls 15-18 division, tied for the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Round of the Day for girls at seven over par (+7) 78.
Division winners were:
- Boys 12 and under: Andrew Grigsby of Morgantown, (+6) 77;
- Boys 13-14: Cayden Swink of Berkeley Springs, (+5) 76;
- Boys 15-16: William Biddington of Morgantown, (+4) 75;
- Boys 17-18: Bryson Moorehead of Ridgeley, (+4) 75;
- Girls 10-14: Valentina Aguilar of Elkins, (+27) 98; and
- Girls 15-18: Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport and Lexi Green of Charleston, (+7) 78.
“The temperatures continue to be a challenge, but Mike Bogroff and his staff have worked hard to keep the course in great shape, despite this month’s rain and heat,” said The Pines’ Head Golf Professional Russell Reid. “We’re excited to partner with the WVGA to give today’s players of tomorrow a chance to play a really high-quality course.”
WVGA’s Director of Junior Golf and Core Services Lucas Ware said, “These young golfers handled today’s conditions like pros, and managed to play well on this challenging course. Thanks go to the staff of The Pines for their hospitality.”
