The 2025 Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), spent Friday and Saturday in Fairmont, visiting Fairmont Field Club on Friday and Apple Valley Country Club on Saturday.
The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience, with AAA and AA playing nine holes, and A playing six holes.
The first event of the weekend was played Friday, June 20, at Fairmont Field Club, featuring a field of 32 golfers aged 5 to 18. Division winners were:
- AAA: Logan Kendziora of Fairmont, (+5) 40;
- AA: Mason Karp of Weston, (+2) 37; and
- A: John (Vito) Faini of Morgantown, (+3) 27.
“We were thrilled to see so many junior golfers out at the course today for Rookie League,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Events Sarah Cole. “We love seeing so many young kids falling in love with golf.”
The second event of the weekend was played on Saturday, June 21, at Apple Valley Country Club, featuring a field of 40 golfers aged 5 to 18. Division winners were:
- AAA: Matthew Ware of Elkview, (+5) 43;
- AA: Blake Keiper of Summersville, (+6) 44; and
- A: John (Vito) Faini of Morgantown, (+6) 32.
“This is our first time hosting the Rookie League and we hope all goes well so we can do it again,” said Apple Valley’s Secretary-Treasurer C.J. Pagliaro. “We hope the kids had fun, especially since the course was in such good shape.”
“We so appreciate these two courses for hosting our young golfers and giving them what is often their first competitive experience in an easy atmosphere,” said First Tee – West Virginia Program Director Alyssa Scragg. “These young golfers are the future of our sport, so we’re glad to have two days in Fairmont for the WVGA and the Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League.”
