Ohioan Mike Haynes takes WVGA Senior Series Low Round at Sleepy Hollow

Mike Haynes of Gallipolis, Ohio, shot a one over par (+1) 73, leading the nearest opponents by one stroke to earn Monday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the Senior Series event, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) and sponsored by Little General Stores, at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane.

Overall, 103 players enjoyed today’s Senior Series event.  The Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players ages 50 and older.  Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and Diamond, 80+.

“We are happy to host WVGA and the Senior Series any time we can,” said Sleepy Hollow’s Head Golf Professional Jimmy Harrison.  “The course has greened up and was in good shape for today.”

“Thank you to Jimmy Harrison and his staff for these great course conditions and, as always, their hospitality,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.

In addition to Haynes winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: Bill Ray of Beaver and John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, (E) 72;
  • Silver Gross: Eric Fairbanks of Morgantown, (+2) 74;
  • Silver Net: Jim Manzo of Fairmont, (-4) 68;
  • Gold Gross: Neil Christiansen of Parkersburg, (+4) 76;
  • Gold Net: Dickey Foster of Nitro, (E) 72;
  • Diamond Gross: Bob White of Hurricane, (+8) 80; and
  • Diamond Net: Gary Roush of Mason, (+6) 78.
