WVGA Women’s Series Opens Season at Bridgeport Country Club

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Women’s Series saw a field of 56 golfers open the season Tuesday at Bridgeport Country Club.

Top honors in First Flight Gross, after a scorecard playoff, went to the team of Caroline Ramsey of Bridgeport, Lisa Younis of Shepherdstown, Janice Allen of Daniels and Laurie Finley of Jekyll Island, Ga.  They finished the round at (-10) 66.

First Flight Net, with a score of (-22) 52, went to the team of Lauren Ramsey and Kaitlin Satzer of Bridgeport, Leigh Chandler of Fairmont and Kathryn Alvaro of Morgantown.

Second Flight Gross honors went to Jennifer and Marianne Peyton, Margaret Coalter and Katheryn Shurow, all of Hurricane and playing in Second Flight, with a score of (-8) 66.

Top honors in Second Flight Net went to the team of Barbara Farcin of Bridgeport, Gloria Davis, Estelle Rice and Gladys Williams of Clarksburg with a (-26) 48.

“We were looking forward to a full field of 48 for the Women’s Series but expanded it to 56 in response to the increased interest,” said Bridgeport’s Assistant Golf Professional Randy Hernly.  “We have a long history of hosting WVGA events, and love adding the Women’s Series to it.  This is a good way to showcase our course and clubhouse, and we’re always glad to do that.”

“We were thrilled to have a field of 56 women on the course today for the opening event of our 2025 Women’s Series,” said WVGA Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole.
