West Virginia Golf Association

The West Virginia Golf Association is dedicated to making an impact in women’s lives through the game of golf by creating a space that is inclusive, educational, fun, uplifting and non-judgmental.  The WVGA is offering Ladies Golf Clinics at the Coonskin Park Driving Range for women of all ages and skill levels. We also provide clubs, tees, and balls for any participant in need. A safe space, like the WVGA has created in their Ladies Golf Clinics, is a great place to begin building confidence. Golf is a lot harder than it looks so, surround yourself with uplifting women who will get excited about your good shots! Confidence is gained one step at a time, on and off the course. Clinics are instructed by WVGA Director of Women’s Golf,  Sarah Cole, and First Tee – West Virginia Program Director, Alyssa Scragg.

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Sarah Cole                                                    Director of Women’s Golf & One Day Events PGA Professional

I began playing golf because my mom made me. The reason my mom put me in golf lessons is because she found out that girl golf scholarships go unused. I grew up playing soccer and had no interest in golf but as each week went on with golf lessons, I began falling in love with the sport! I grew up in Princeton, WV and attended Concord University on a golf scholarship! While in college, my love of soccer never went away, and I joined the soccer team as well. I graduated in 2020 with a degree in Sports Management and moved to South Carolina that summer. I began my work career as an intern with the Women’s South Carolina Golf Association. After my internship, I became a Golf Professional at a private club in Columbia, South Carolina. It was there that I found my love for teaching golf! I moved to Charleston, West Virginia in 2023 to continue my career with the West Virginia Golf Association as their Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Events. I love being able to travel our wonderful state and visit new golf courses with our members! Outside of golf, I am an avid runner and enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible! When I am not searching for a new adventure, I like to spend my time reading or just sitting in the sun listening to music.

Alyssa Scragg                                                    First Tee – West Virginia Program Director

Golf enthusiast, book lover, dog’s best friend, and family’s number one fan! When she’s not perfecting her swing, you’ll find her nose buried in a good book or spoiling her dog with endless belly rubs. She’s always ready for a round of golf, a cozy reading session, or a family hangout filled with laughs and love. Whether it’s hitting the links or hanging out with her favorite people (and pup!), Alyssa knows how to make every moment count!

REGISTRATION BEGINS MAY 1, 2025

REGISTRATION WILL BE REQUIRED THIS YEAR TO KEEP EACH CLINIC AT A MAXIMUM OF 20-25 PARTICIPANTS.  THIS WILL HELP OUR INSTRUCTORS CREATE A “LESSON PLAN” AND SPEND QUALITY TIME WITH EACH PARTICIPANT.

EACH CLINIC WILL FOCUS ON DIFFERENT TOPICS AND SKILLS. YOU CAN EXPECT TO LEARN ABOUT ALL THE CLUBS, HOW TO USE THEM AND WHEN TO USE THEM DURING PLAY.

THE FINAL CLINIC OF THE SESSION IS A 9 HOLE ROUND AT THE SHORT COURSE AT COONSKIN.  INSTRCTORS WILL FOLLOW PARTICIPANTS FROM HOLE TO HOLE TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE.

EACH SESSION COST $20 | WVGA MEMBER $15
