Following two Junior Match Play qualifiers for players under 18, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), the final matches for girls and boys are set for Sunday at Parkersburg Country Club.
In the girls’ first round of eight players,
- Savannah Hawkins of Hurricane defeated McKenzie Armstrong of Belmont 7 and 6;
- Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport defeated Scarlett Albertson of Charleston 4 and 1;
- Kerri-Anne Cook of Ocean defeated Madilyn Buttrey of Williamstown 7 and 5; and
- Sidnea Belville of Ironton, Ohio defeated Lauren Cline of Mineral Wells 4 and 2.
In the girls’ semi-finals, Cook defeated Belville 8 and 7, while Hawkins defeated Kerr 4 and 2. Cook and Hawkins will tee off at 8:20 a.m. Sunday for the Girls’ Championship match.
On the boys’ side, the first round of matches showed:
- Jack Michael of Huntington defeated Parker O’Dell of Hurricane 7 and 6;
- Will Gruse of Charleston defeated Sammy Shy of Huntington 4 and 3;
- Andrew Sheets of Morgantown defeated Isaac Hutchison of Lewisburg 1 up;
- Jackson Woodburn of Scott Depot defeated Gavin Martin of Scott Depot 5 and 3;
- Cameron Fallon of Parkersburg defeated Noah Reasbeck of Martinsburg 1 up;
- McCartney Hinkle of Bluefield, Va. defeated Owen Estel of Morgantown 6 and 4;
- Andrew Johnson of Hurricane defeated Tyler Beard of Lewisburg 1 up; and
- Tommy Evans of Charles Town defeated Carson Sergent of Huntington 2 and 1.
The Round of 8 showed Jack Michael over Will Gruse 5 and 3, Jackson Woodburn over Andrew Sheets 4 and 3, McCartney Hinkle over Cameron Fallon 5 and 3 and Tommy Evans of Andrew Johnson 5 and 4.
On Sunday Jack Michael will face Jackson Woodburn at 8:00 a.m. and McCartney Hinkle will face Tommy Evans at 8:10 a.m. in the final round to determine the Boys’ Championship match.
