Jude and Shears take top spots in WV Amateur Series at Glade Springs

The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, saw Davey Jude of Kermit the Championship flight Monday on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels with a two under par 70.   Daneen Shears of Elizabeth took the Women’s Gross Division with an eight over par 80.

 

Karen Rainey of Daniels took her third Women’s Net Division of the season with a four over par 76.

Mark Strickland of Boomer took the Men’s Gross Division with a seven over par 79, while Justus Mann of Chapmanville took the Men’s Net Division with a one over par 73. 

Jared Porter, assistant golf professional at Glade Spring Resort, said, “We’re always happy to host some of the best amateur golfers in the state on one of the best courses in in state.”

“We want to thank Kyle Long, Jared Porter and the staff at Glade Springs for the outstanding course conditions and the great weather,” said WVGA’s Director of Women’s Golf and One Day Series Sarah Cole. “We were thrilled to have 49 players on the course today.  Our first three events were well attended and we have only two events left in Amateur Series presented by PSIMED.”

The West Virginia Amateur Series, presented by PSIMED, is open to anyone, male or female, of any skill level. Awards are given in several flights based on net and gross scores.

The WV Amateur Series is back in action Thursday, May 23, at Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield, Va.
