91st West Virginia Open visits Glade Springs Resort, qualifies 12

The fourth of six state-wide qualifiers for the 91st West Virginia Open Championship, presented by WVU Medicine, enjoyed great conditions at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels on Monday.  Hoping to qualify for one of 12 spots or two alternate positions in the Championship later this month, 45 golfers teed off this morning.

“We co-hosted the WVGA Parent-Child Championship over the weekend, so the course was ready for today,” said Glade Springs’ Head Golf Professional Kyle Long.

Earning Medalist Honors were Jackson Woodburn of Scott Depot and Tanner Vest of Shady Spring, tied at three under par 69.  Other qualifiers were:

  • Isaiah Zaccheo of Beckley, (-1) 71;
  • Case Tolliver of Bluefield, (E) 72;
  • Patrick Smith of Beckley, (+1) 73;
  • Tyler Beard of Lewisburg, (+1) 73;
  • Jonah Willson of Daniels, (+2) 74;
  • Carson O’Dell of Hurricane, (+2) 74;
  • Jared Porter of Princeton, (+2) 74;
  • Mark Strickland of Boomer, (+2) 74;
  • Josh Burg of Charleston, (+3) 75; and
  • Wes Duncan of Daniels, (+4) 76.

Alternates are Adam Sholes of Charleston and Parker O’Dell of Hurricane.

“We thank the staff at The Resort at Glade Springs for hosting us over the weekend and again today,” said WVGA Executive Director Chris Slack. “We want to thank WVU Medicine for their support of today’s qualifier and the West Virginia Open Championship.”
