The 2024 WV Club Team Championship, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) on the Cobb course at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, crowned its champions Sunday with Sleepy Hollow teams repeating by taking two of three team titles.
Winners of the Men’s Championship team from Sleepy Hollow, repeating for the third year, included Brian Anania, Chris Bohach, Mitch Hoffman and Cory Hoshor, finishing with a combined score of two under par 286. Other top five finishers included teams from Berry Hills, Glad Springs, Fincastle and Edgewood. A total of 44 golfers played on 11 men’s teams.
Winners of the Senior Championship team from Sleepy Hollow included David and John Bumgarner, Cory Hoshor and John Duty, finishing with a combined score of three over par 219. The remainder of the top five teams represented Glade Springs, Parkersburg Country Club, Edgewood Country Club and Guyan Golf and Country Club. A total of 32 golfers played on senior teams.
Winners of the Ladies’ Championship team from Edgewood Country Club included Christine Derienzo, Susie Murad, Lynn Roth and David Scragg, scoring 21 over par 237. The second-place team represented Glade Springs, followed by Parkersburg Country Club.
Individual winners on the day were:
- Men’s champion Jared Porter, Princeton, (-5) 67;
- Ladies’ champion Karen Rainey, Glade Springs, (+11) 83; and
- Senior champion Patrick Allen, Parkersburg Country Club, (-1) 71.
“We’re very excited to host the last WVGA championship of the season. Our ladies were the defending champions, and we were hoping to bring the trophy home again, but they played well and took second,” said Jared Porter, assistant head golf professional at The Resort at Glade Springs. “The course was in great shape for Sunday, after being pretty wet earlier in the week.”
