2024 Callaway Junior Rookie League heads to Elizabeth; brothers win third division titles

The 2024 Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), continued the season on Friday, July 12, at Mingo Bottom Golf Club in Elizabeth.

The CJRT Rookie League is broken into three divisions, based on skill and experience.

The Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League played at Mingo Bottom and featured a field of 22 golfers aged 5 to 18.  Division winners were:

  • AAA (nine holes): Jude Walker of Elizabeth at (-3) 33;
  • AA (nine holes): Sawyer Sublett of Philippi at (+4) 40, his third division win of 2024; and
  • A (six holes): Elliott Sublett of Philippi at (-4) 20, his third division win of the season.

“The heat kept some of our participants away, but those who played found great greens and a lot of extra roll on the fairways since they’re so dry,” said Mingo Botton’s General Manager Billy Dotson.  “These young golfers are the future of our sport, so we’re always glad to host the WVGA and the Callaway Junior Tour Rookie League.”

“I want to thank Billy Dotson and his staff for the heat precautions they put in place today to keep our young golfers as cool as possible,” said First Tee – West Virginia Program Director Alyssa Scragg.
