101st Playing of West Virginia Women’s Amateur opens at Bridgeport Country Club 

The 101st playing of the West Virginia Women’s Amateur, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), ended the first day of stroke play of the three-day championship at Bridgeport Country Club.

This championship features 24 of the best female golfers from West Virginia from teenagers to seniors.

Monday’s round of stroke play saw Emily Holzopfel of Rayland, Ohio, top the leader board in stroke play with a one over par 73.  Stroke play continues Monday, with the 2024 Championship decided on Tuesday.

“We are happy to host the 101st Women’s Amateur Championship and its nice mix of player ages,” said Bridgeport’s Head Golf Pro Mike Gervais.  “It’s been great to see Caroline Ramsey’s reaction and to be able to honor her contributions to women’s golf in West Virginia.”
