Qualifiying Sites and Dates

May 7th – Edgewood Country Club – Sissonville,WV (Tee Times starting at 9AM)                                              
May 7th – Lakeview Resort (Lakeview Course) – Morgantown, WV (Tee Times starting at NOON)                

Eligibility: Entries are open to junior golfers with an active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA Member Club, and who are 18 years of age or under by the start of the Championship. All players MUST be residents of West Virginia. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.

Format: Sixteen players (Boys) and six players (Girls) will advance from 18-hole stroke play qualifying into the Junior Match Play Championship. Match Play will begin on the morning of Saturday, May 13th and will be a single elimination format. *New Addition for 2017* – There will be both a Boys and Girls Division. The top girl qualifier from each qualifying round will receive an opening round bye in the championship.

Field Size: Field is limited to the 16 Boys and 6 Girls players who advanced from Qualifying.

Practice Round: The designated practice round date is Friday, May 12th. Players are instructed to make tee times through the golf shop. The practice round fee is $25 payable directly to the host club. Practice rounds on any other days other than the designated practice round will be up to the club, but players will be allocated only one practice round at the discounted rate.

Championship Yardage: Boys – approximately 6,895 yards     Girls – 5,888 yards

Player Registration: There is no on-site registration for this event.

Player Lunch: Players will be provided a box lunch during both days of competition.

Player Banquet: There is a mandatory player banquet beginning at 7:00PM in the main clubhouse on the night of Friday, May 12th. Dress code is formal as boys will be expected to wear coat and tie. 

Carts: The championship is a walking event for all players.

Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will be available from the host club for a set fee payable directly to Parkersburg Country Club.

Caddies: Caddies are not permitted during qualifying or the championship proper. The use of pull carts is permitted.

Pairings: Pairings for stroke play qualifying will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, May 5th. Pairings for the Junior Match Play Championship will be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Monday, May 8th.

Awards / Gift Certificates: The champion and runner-up will both receive trophies.

POY Points: Junior Player of the Year points will  be awarded to all players who advance to the match play portion of the championship. Player of the Year points list will be updated online immediately following the completion of play.

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.

Score Posting: At the conclusion of the qualifying rounds each players score will be automatically posted as a “T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitve rounds as this will result in a double post.

Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament.
