The West Virginia Golf Association is excited to announce the return of the William C. Campbell Classic at The Greenbrier’s Old White. The WVGA has the honor of continuing the legacy of the great Bill Campbell through this scholarship that is presented annually to deserving seniors from across the state of West Virginia. Campbell made a profound impact on and off the golf course. Campbell was head both major governing bodies of golf: the United States Golf Association (1982-83) and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club (1987). During his tenure as President and Captain of the two respective associations, his message was clear: Golf is a game of manners, relationships, dignity, and self respect. Since the inception of this scholarship, it has distributed over $100,000.00 thanks to the support and participation from this scholarship event.
“It is an honorable game, an honorable institution, if you will, so that people shouldn’t need policemen to keep them straight. That goes with being a golfer.” -Bill Campbell
