John Drake of Cottageville shot the Little General Stores Low Round of Day at the Senior Series event today at Riverside Golf Club in Mason with a two over par 72. Play at the start of the day was delayed by 40 minutes, due to heavy rainfall in the Mason County area.
The Senior Series, sponsored by Little General Stores and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), is for players age 50 and up, and included five players over 80 today. Overall, 73 players tackled the course today. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.
In addition to John Drake winning the Gold Gross and Net categories, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Chuck Workman of Marlinton;
- Senior Net: Carl Umpleby of Vienna;
- Silver Gross: Robert Yanero of Fairmont;
- Silver Net: Rich Tetrick of Cross Lanes;
- Gold Net: Thomas Howard of Dunbar; and
- 80 + Gross and Net: Bob White of Hurricane.
