Tim Mount of Huntington shot the Little General Stores Low Round of Day at the Senior Series event today at Preston Country Club in Kingwood with a three under par 69.  Mount said, “I haven’t played in a while, and it feels good to win.”

The Senior Series, sponsored by Little General Stores and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), is for players age 50 and up, and included four players over 80 today.  Categories are:  Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.

“We love this opportunity to showcase our course, which is in its best shape in a while,” said Tim Bucklew, of the Club’s golf staff.  “I’m a regular in the Senior Series events and it gives me a chance to play courses I never see, so today gave other golfers the same chance.  We’re hosting the Senior Tri-State Amateur on Aug. 28-29, and we’re hoping today’s event will springboard more folks to come play here then, too. ”

In addition to Tim Mount winning the Senior Gross and Net categories, other winners today were:

  • Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane;
  • Silver Net: Ed Goodnight of Vienna;
  • Gold Gross: Jim Jackson of Morgantown;
  • Gold Net: Jack Richards of Scott Depot; and
  • 80 + Gross and Net: Jack Richards of Scott Depot.
