The Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event at Stonewall Resort as won on a tiebreaker between John Duty of Huntington and Brian McPherson of Belpre, Ohio, with Duty taking the title.
“The course conditions were great today and it was a fantastic layout,” Duty said.
“Today’s event at Stonewall started with beautiful weather and the golf course was just as good,” said West Virginia Golf Association Tournament Manager Chance Hindbaugh.
“We look forward to hosting this great event with great players, especially since the course was in championship ready shape,” said Stonewall Resort’s PGA Golf Professional Mike Rogers. “We always look forward to seeing friends who play this event.”
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up. Overall, 96 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.
In addition to John Duty winning the Silver Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Brian McPherson of Belpre, Ohio;
- Senior Net: Carl Umpleby of Vienna;
- Silver Net: Bil Capelety of Farmington;
- Gold Gross: Tom Cushman of Daniels;
- Gold Net: Dickey Foster of Nitro;
- 80+ Gross: Bob White of Hurricane; and
- 80+ Net: Jack Richards of Scott Depot.
