“I’ve been playing in these events for years and always wanted to take the Little General Low Round of the Day honors and today I was able to put a great round together and clinch the trophy,” Daniels said.

The Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Tuesday’s West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event at Bel Meadow Golf Club in Mt. Clare was won on a four-stroke lead by Dean Daniels of McHenry, Md., who shot an even par 72.

“This is the first WVGA Senior Series event we’ve had for a couple of years,” said Randy Workman, owner of Bel Meadow.  “The players had a good time and the course was in great shape.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up.  There were 61 players on the course Tuesday.  Categories are:  Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.

In addition to Daniels winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:

  • Senior Net: Mike White of Chapmanville;
  • Silver Gross: Tony Bryant of Bridgeport:
  • Silver Net: Bill Capelety of Farmington;
  • Gold Gross: David Grubb of Charleston;
  • Gold Net: Ralph Wright of Clendenin;
  • 80+ Gross: Gary Roush of Mason; and
  • 80+ Net: Jack Richards of Scott Depot.

The 80+ division was sponsored by Chuck Workman and Appalachian Sport.
