Team Virginia is leading Team West Virginia after the first round of WV/VA Team Matches, hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) at the Woodhaven Course at the Village of Glade Springs.

The first round’s score was 10 to 4, based on a Foursome (Alternate Shot) format.  This afternoon’s Four-Ball Matches will conclude Saturday’s action. Final day, Single Matches will determine this year’s winner of “Ye Ole’ Feudin’ Stick” on Sunday.

Each team has eight players under age 49, four players between 50 and 64 and two players over 65.  The West Virginia team is led by Captain Tim Mount.

The matches took place on the Woodhaven Course at Glade Springs.  “The course is in better shape than last year, and kudos go to our superintendent and his crew,” said PGA Director of Golf Matt Felber.  “We have a longstanding relationship with the WVGA and we’re glad to have them back.  We’re pleased to have top-flight players going head-to-head.”

“This event is all about the team aspects of golf,” Hindbaugh said.  “Players getting to know other golfers from ‘across the border’ during one of the most fun weekends of the year is something they’ll remember for a long time.”

Our 2022 patron sponsors for this event included Pikewood Energy, Murray Sheet Metal, Flemming Golf Events and Mr. Richard Colley.  We also thank Bro-Marsh BBQ for providing lunch.
