Austin Greaser, of Vandalia, OH, and Christopher Zhang, of Blacksburg, VA, qualified for the United States Amateur championship Wednesday at Edgewood Country Club. Greaser set a new course record at Edgewood with a nine under par 62.
The 36-hole qualifier, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) on behalf of the United State Golf Association (USGA), was the only qualifying event in West Virginia. The remaining qualifiers are being conducted in July in 36 other states, Puerto Rico, Canada and Mexico. The U.S. Amateur Championship will be contested Aug. 9-15 at Oakmont Country Club in Verona, Penn.
