Kenny Hess of Parkersburg was one of two golfers to further advance into USOPEN qualifying from Wednesday’s event at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, W. Va. Thirty-three golfers from around the country competed for two spots to advance in USOPEN qualifying, as well as fill two alternate positions.
Hess, a former West Virginia Open champion, tied for medalist honors with a (-2) 70. He was joined at the top by Keenan Husky of Greenville, South Carolina who also fired a (-2) 70 to advance in USOPEN qualifying.
The West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), in support and collaboration with the United States Golf Association (USGA), conducted the USOPEN qualifier.
Stonewall’s Director of Golf Mike Rogers thanked his staff for course conditions Wednesday. “Superintendent Cordell Elmer and his staff did a phenomenal job of getting the course in championship shape after the weekend’s rain.” He added that this was a “great event with great golfers that turned out to be a good test of golf.”
Stonewall Resort will be hosting the West Virginia Open Championship in June featuring West Virginia’s best amateur and professional golfers.
