The 2022 Callaway Junior Tour Championship, sponsored by Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal and hosted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), saw a field of 82 of the state’s top young golfers Monday at Parkersburg Country Club.
A playoff in the girls’ 15-18 division saw Emerson Simons of Spencer take top honors over Kerri-Anne Cook of Oceana by one stroke, winning the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Low Round of the Day for the girls. Of today’s win, Simons said, “The playoff was fun and I was happy to make a birdie.”
Grant Roush of Mason won the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal Low Round of the Day for the boys today with a four under par 69. “I made a lot of putts today,” he said.
There were playoffs in the boys’ 15-16 division and 17-18 division to determine second place in both groups, with Stephen McDavid of Hurricane and Brandon Lawhon of Saint Mary’s taking second place in each division.
“It’s always an honor to host this event since we’re the birthplace of the Junior Tour, thanks to the late Larry Martin,” Parkersburg’s Head Golf Pro Adam Chesnut said.
“Three playoffs made this a great Tour Championship here at Parkersburg Country Club,” said WVGA Tournament Manager – Youth Operations Lucas Ware. “Head Professional Adam Chesnut, Superintendent Pat Maher and the entire crew did a great job of hosting us today.”
Division winners were:
- Boys 12 & under: Wyatt Maynard of Barboursville;
- Boys 13-14: Grant Roush of Mason;
- Boys 15-16: Argyle Downes of Charles Town;
- Boys 17-18: Evan Jarvis of Milton;
- Girls 10-14: Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport; and
- Girls 15-18: Emerson Simons of Spencer.
