Harold Payne of Hurricane made his return to the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series with a Little General Low Round of the Day, shooting a three under par 69 Monday at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.

“Today was a great time,” Payne said. “I had a great group of guys I really enjoy playing with and hit the ball very solid.”

“The golf course is in wonderful shape and we really appreciate Sleepy Hollow allowing us to come out and use their facility. The Club is always a gracious host to the Senior Series,” said WVGA Tournament Manager Chance Hindbaugh.  “The guys really enjoyed the day and the weather was terrific compared to what our forecast showed last night.  We thank Little General Stores, as always, for their continued support of the WVGA Senior Series.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up.  Categories are:  Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.

Division winners were:

  • Senior Gross: Michael Koreski of Parkersburg;
  • Senior Net: Lance Gainer of Vienna;
  • Silver Gross: Harold Payne of Hurricane;
  • Silver Net: James Dingess of Barboursville;
  • Gold Gross: Ron Witt of Masontown;
  • Gold Net: Thomas Hamilton of Charleston;
  • 80+ Gross: Thomas Turner of Hurricane; and
  • 80+ Net: Bob White of Hurricane.
