The 2017 West Virginia Junior Amateur Championship concluded today at Canaan Valley Resort where the weather conditions were much better for the final round after opening round high winds greeted the players. Mason Williams of Bridgeport and Fuzzy Vance of Huntington became the Boys and Girls 2017 WV Junior Amateur Champions after defeating Jacob Nickell in a 4 hole playoff. Williams shot a 1-over par 73 to finish the tournament at even par 144, Nickell who was playing with Williams fired a 1-under par 71 to get into the playoff. It was a grind for the players all day as Mason Weese climbed into contention on the back nine along with Christian McKisic to make the finish very exciting, but it was Williams who came out on top when Nickell 3 bogeyed the fourth playoff hole to give Williams the win. The win gives Williams an exemption into this years WV Open and next years WV Amateur.
