Jeff Harper of Coolville, Ohio, who scored an even par 70, earned Wednesday’s Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event at Green Hills Country Club in Fairmont, after a tie breaker with second place finisher Van Stemple of Shepherdstown.

“Today we got by the weather and were very fortunate to play on a beautiful golf course here at Green Hills,” said WVGA Tournament Manager Chance Hindbaugh. “Jay Harrison, Scott Griffiths, all the catering staff and grounds crew knocked it out of the ball park!”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up.  Categories are:  Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.

Division winners were:

  • Senior Gross: Jeff Harper of Coolville, Ohio;
  • Senior Net: David Briggs of Carmichaels, Pa.;
  • Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane;
  • Silver Net: Mike Shickle of Hedgesville;
  • Gold Gross: Tommy Kirk of Morgantown;
  • Gold Net: Butch Freeman of Daniels;
  • 80+ Gross and Net: Mike Greene of Weirton.
