The second and final Junior Match Play qualifier, for players under 18 and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), took place Saturday at Edgewood Country Club in Sissonville.  Eleven players, six boys and five girls, qualified for the Junior Match Play Championship on May 7-8 at Parkersburg Country Club.

The low round for girls was a 78 shot by Taylor Sargent of Milton, while the low round of boys was a 72 shot by Anderson Goldman of Charleston.

“It is always a pleasure hosting any of the WVGA events.  Brad and his staff are always prepared and very well organized which makes my job very easy, said Edgewood’s PGA Head Golf Professional Craig Berner.  “Kenny and his staff have the golf course in wonderful condition.”

“Thank you to Edgewood Country Club and their grounds crew for hosting us and having the course in great condition. The players battled rain all afternoon but conditions improved as the day went on,” said Lucas Ware, WVGA Tournament Manager-Youth Operations.

Girls qualifying for the Championship are:

  • Taylor Sargent;
  • Kerri-Anne Cook;
  • Maddie Erwin;
  • Anna Earl; and
  • Sidnea Belville.

Boys qualifying for the Championship are:

  • Anderson Goldman;
  • Jack Michael;
  • Jackson Woodburn;
  • Benjamin March;
  • Austin Willard; and
  • Tanner Walls.
