(Sissonville, WV) The 2018 playing of the WV Junior Amateur concluded today at Edgewood Country Club in Sissonville where Alex Easthom of Ravenswood fired a 3-under par 68 to go along with his 67 from Thursday to cruise to a 5 shot victory over Charles Town’s Christian Boyd. Easthom, an incoming freshman this fall at West Liberty, only made two bogeys the entire championship to go along with nine birdies and the closest any competitor got after the 3rd hole was 4 strokes. Easthom earns an exemption into the 2018 WV Open and the 2019 WV Amateur championship. On the Girls side it was Torren Kalaskey of Charleston winning the championship by 2 strokes over Huntington’s Fuzzy Vance. Kalaskey, along with Vance, will be freshman at Marshall University this fall and be a part of the golf team, these two have captured the last 4 junior state championships between them, Kalaskey winning the 2017 Junior Match Play and 2018 Junior Am, and Vance winning the 2017 Junior Am and 2018 Junior Match Play. In the other age divisions, Ryan Bilby of Follansbee won the boys 15-16, Gareth Ryder of Marlinton won the 13-14, Argyle Downs of Charles Town won the boys 12 and under and Kerri Anne Cook of Oceana held on for a 2 stroke victory in the Girls 10-14 division.
