(Charleston, WV) The 2017 WVGA tournament season kicked-off on Monday morning at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston with the Little General Stores Senior Series. This season marks a significant milestone for the Senior Series as we begin our 20th SEASON OF COMPETITION! A cool, rain soaked morning eventually gave way to partly cloudy skies and sunshine on a beautiful spring afternoon in the Capital City as a full field of over 100 players took to the course to compete in the opening tournament. The par-70 course is well-known for its short, but extremely challenging layout with premiums on keeping the ball in play off the tee.

Mark White of South Charleston took home the first Little General Stores Low Round of the Day trophy of the season, firing an impressive one-under 69 on his home course playing in the Silver Division. In the Senior Division, Timmy Mount of Huntington posted an even-par 70, picking-up where he left-off last season and improving his streak to 3 straight wins in the Senior Division dating back to the end of last year. Finally in the Gold Division, Bernie Eller of Charleston shot a six-over 76 at his home club to take low gross in the division.

The WVGA is excited to continue the strong start to this 2017 tournament season!
