Bob Clark of Wheeling shot the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event on the Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort with a one over par 72.

“I played great today. I always enjoy coming to Oglebay and playing the Palmer Course,” Clark said. “The staff here is always first class and the grounds crew has both the Palmer Course and Jones Course in the best condition they have ever been.”

“The day started with a one-hour frost delay, then the weather became absolutely perfect,” said West Virginia Golf Association Tournament Manager Chance Hindbaugh.

“We’re excited for the WVGA to play the Palmer Course,” said Oglebay Resort General Manager of Golf Operations Danny Ackerman.  “We hope they’re as excited to be here as we are to have them.”

The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up.  Overall, 51 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event.  Categories are:  Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.

In addition to Bob Clark winning the Senior Gross and Net categories, other winners today were:

  • Silver Gross: Michael Wilson of Wheeling;
  • Silver Net: David Sims of Wheeling;
  • Gold Gross: David Grubb of Charleston;
  • Gold Net: Butch Freeman of Daniels;
  • 80 + Gross and Net: Duane Lescalet of Wheeling.
