
Chuck Workman, of Marlinton, made six birdies on his way to the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day with a (-1) 69.
Chuck Workman of Marlinton shot the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Wednesday’s West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event at Marietta Country Club with a one under par 69. He also made six birdies on the day.
“My schedule this morning was a little different from what I usually do and I am definitely going to rethink my pre-tournament routine because I played really well today,” Workman said.
Marietta Head Golf Professional Rod Harrison said, “We really appreciate the WVGA coming up to Marietta and hope we can continue to host events in the future. The course took a little bit of a beating last night with the severe weather but our grounds crew worked their tails off to clear any debris and fallen trees this morning.”
In addition to Chuck Workman winning the Senior Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Net: Buddy Butler of Williamstown;
- Silver Gross: John Duty of Hurricane;
- Silver Net: Rick Adkins of Flatwoods, KY;
- Gold Gross: Dube Dailer of Wheeling;
- Gold Net: Butch Freeman of Daniels;
- 80 + Gross: Gary Roush of Mason; and
- 80 + Net: Bill Yoho of New Haven.
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up. Overall, 66 players enjoyed the WVGA the day’s Senior Series event. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.
