Tom Cushman of Daniels shot the Little General Stores Low Round of Day at the sold-out Senior Series event Wednesday on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs with a one under par 71.
“I played well today, even with missing a few short putts,” Cushman said. “All in all it was a good day!”
“We were excited to get the season started today with the West Virginia Golf Association, kicking off the 25-event series for senior golfers across the state,” said Glade Springs’ Head Golf Professional Kyle Long. “This course has a traditional-style layout that is great for tournament golf and we congratulate Tom Cushman on today’s performance.”
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), is for players age 50 and up, and included six players over 80. Overall, 104 players enjoyed the WVGA season’s first Senior Series event on the course. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.
In addition to Tom Cushman winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: Tim Mount of Huntington;
- Senior Net: Jay Davis of St. Clairsville, OH;
- Silver Gross and Net: Jerry Groves of Maxwellton;
- Gold Net: David Snyder of South Charleston;
- 80 + Gross: Thomas Turner of Hurricane; and
- 80+ Net: Gary Roush of Mason.
