The Little General Stores Low Round of the Day at Tuesday’s West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA) Senior Series event at Guyan Country Club in Huntington went to Jim Cyrus of Huntington with a one over par 72. The day started under rainy and cloudy conditions, but turn into a beautiful day after the rain cleared.
Cyrus said, “I’m tickled to death I won the Little General Stores Low Round of the Day! I had a great round and didn’t let it get away from me at the end.”
“The field of 87 players enjoyed the great course conditions and were happy to get back to a fabulous layout after the original date was postponed due to severe flooding in May,” said WVGA Tournament Manager Chance Hindbaugh. “Congratulations go to John Ridenour of Long Bottom, Ohio, for scoring six birdies today and to Jamie Bailes for scoring an eagle.”
The West Virginia Senior Series, which is presented by Little General Stores and conducted by the WVGA, is for players age 50 and up. There were 87 players on the course Tuesday. Categories are: Senior, 50-59; Silver, 60-69; Gold, 70-79; and 80+.
In addition to Cyrus winning the Gold Gross category, other winners today were:
- Senior Gross: David Loggins of Verdunville;
- Senior Net: Jamie Bailes of Huntington;
- Silver Gross: Barry Knotts of Morgantown;
- Silver Net: Stan Skiles of Williamstown;
- Gold Net: James McKnight of West Columbia; and
- 80+ Gross and Net: Gary Roush of Mason.
