The 2021 West Virginia Senior Amateur Match Play Championship concludes Wednesday at Edgewood Country Club. Until tomorrow’s final matches, the heat appears to be the winner of this event right now.
The Championship, conducted by the West Virginia Golf Association (WVGA), is for players age 50 and up, and featured a total of 66 players starting the event on Monday. Today’s action involved 36 holes of golf to determine the remaining four players competing Wednesday, two in the Senior Championship Bracket and two competing for the overall tournament championship.
Jim Carpenter of Martinsburg and Jim Cyrus of Huntington will tee off at 8:00 a.m. to determine the Senior Championship winner.
Playing for the WV Senior Amateur Match Play Championship, and teeing off at 8:15 a.m., will be Pat Carter of Barboursville and Tim Mount of Huntington.
WVGA’s Director of Rules and Competitions Chris Slack said, “We took every precaution possible today in terms of hydration, shade and other safety measures to keep our players safe while enjoying their time playing in this tournament.”
