CHAMPIONSHIP GROUPINGS / RESULTS


Eligibility: Entries are open to female amateur golfers with an active GHIN Handicap Index through a WVGA Member Club. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.

Format: The WV Women’s Amateur Championship is a 54-hole stroke play championship. Players must choose upon registration which flight they will compete in. (Championship or Quarrier Division) Upon conclusion of Round 2, players in the Quarrier Division will be flighted into a maximum of three (3) flights, but will be determined depending on field size. Each flight will have a gross winner trophy presented at the conclusion of the championship.

Championship Division: Players will compete at app. 5,800 yards in gross competition only. Players in the Championship Division will not be eligible for fewest putt and/or closest to the hole awards. All players names and scores will be printed on tournament materials and scores will be posted and sent to all media outlets following each round of play.

Quarrier Division: Players will compete at app. 5,300 yards in gross and net competition. Players in the Quarrier Division will be eligible for fewest putts and closest to the hole awards. Other than the overall winner, player names will not be posted and scores will not be sent to the media. Following Round 2, the Quarrier Division will be flighted into a maximum of three (3) flights and each flight winner will be presented with a trophy.

Roger Dean Low Net Trophy – will be presented to the low net player in the Quarrier Division.

Sue B. Everett Trophy – will be presented to the Low Senior of the championship regardless of Division.

Top 10 – The Top 10 Awards will be presented to the Low 10 Gross players following the completion of the championship.

Divisions: Championship (app. 5,800 yards)  or Quarrier (5,300 yards)

Field Size: The maximum field size is 84 players

Practice Round: Practice rounds are scheduled for the week of July 21-28. Practice Round fee is $35 and can be scheduled by calling the PCC golf shop. Players may schedule their practice round on other days but are subject to host site availability. 

Player Registration: Registration will be held from 10:00AM – 3:00PM EDT on July 28th.

Player Cookout: The player cookout will be held on Monday night from 6:30PM – 8:00PM on the back porch (poolside) of the clubhouse. All players are encouraged to attend.

Player Club Storage: Club storage will be available at Parkersburg Country Club for all players. Please see a PCC staff member in the golf shop to make arrangements.

Cart Fees: All cart fees will be included in your entry fee.

Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. Final decision will be made by the WVGA Executive Director and Senior Director of Rules & Competitions.

Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the WVGA cart policy and there is an available seat. * WVGA Cart Policy – there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *

Pairings: Pairings for stroke play qualifying will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, July 27th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Friday, July 28th.

Awards / Gift Certificates: The champion and runner-up will be awarded a trophy at the conclusion of the championship. Gift Certificates and trophies  will be awarded to each flight winner.

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to the Senior Director of Rules & Competitions, Carter Page.
