Eligibility: Entries are open to male and female amateur golfers with an active GHIN Handicap Index through a WVGA Member Club. and professionals who are “Regular Members” of the WVGA. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.
Format: 18-hole stroke play competition with play beginning with a 9:00AM shotgun start.
Divisions / Scoring: Men’s Championship Division: Consists of four (4) male amateur golfers plus one (1) professional or amateur captain. The low four (4) gross scores after 18-holes of stroke play will count towards your team score and the overall Men’s Club Team Championship. The Men’s Championship Division will play the full length Men’s set of tees. Men’s Senior Division: Consists of three (3) male senior amateur golfers plus one (1) professional or amateur captain. The low three (3) gross scores after 18-holes of stroke play will count towards your team score and the overall Men’s Senior Club Team Championship. The Men’s Senior Flight will compete from the senior length set of tees. Women’s Division: Consists of three (3) female amateur golfers plus one (1) professional or amateur captain. The low three (3) gross scores after 18 holes of stroke play will count towards your team score and the overall Women’s Club Team Championship. The Women’s flight will compete from the women’s length set of tees.
Field Size: The maximum field size is 100 players
Practice Round: Players can call The Pines Country CLub to setup their practice rounds. The fee for a practice round will be $45 payable directly to the club.
Player Registration: Player registration will begin at 7:30AM on the morning of Sunday, September 16th. Players will need to register by 8:45AM in order to receive their tournament information along with their lunch ticket. All players will need to be at the cart staging area at 8:45AM to receive instructions from the WVGA. Once announcements have been made players will be asked to make their way to their starting holes for the 9:00AM shotgun start.
Player Food & Beverage: Lunch will be provided to all players at the conclusion of play
Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. Final decision will be made by the WVGA Executive Director and Senior Director of Rules & Competitions.
Pairings: Pairings for stroke play qualifying will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, September 14th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Friday, September 14th.
Awards / Gift Certificates: The winners of each division will receive gift certificates (amateurs) or cash payouts (professionals).
POY Points: State Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 5 amateur finishers. Points will be awarded immediately following the conclusion of the championship.
Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship each players score will be automatically posted as a “T” or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitve rounds as this will result in a double post.
Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament.
